INTA CDN Fertigation Machine

It is our belief that we can rightly call the CDN machine from INTA. Here you will find all the facilities included that are found in similar machines as well as many new and useful possibilities and features.

The Complete Irrigation Machine

The machine is already produced in more than 500 units, and due to the versatile and complete program the machine is employed in such different places as Brazil and Scandinavia.

As the standart configuration, the CDN unit supplies control through 16 valves. In many cases, this is sufficient, but by adding modules of 16 valves it is possible to control a total of 320 valves. The valves can be placed in a total of 10 irrigation groups. Each group can again be organized into as many as 32 subgroups.

By combining up to 8 fertilizer stock solution tanks each irrigation group can be assigned an individual recipe with different nutrient solution, conductivity and pH.

The irrigation can be executed on time, on volume or via a signal from an external starter device which activates the irrigation as long as the signal is active.

Irrigation According to the Need of the Crop

With nine different forms of activating the irrigation CDN offers the best possibilities for a perfect irrigation control.

Early detection is the key to successful control of the irrigation in high yield crops. The right nutrient solution applied at the right time is essential for the production of high quality products.

The CDN machine is provided with several sensors which enables you to form an irrigation strategy that prevents plant stress and ensures that the crop is growing well at all times.

An outstanding feature is the Drain Control programme which controls the adequate run-off from the growing media while securing irrigation at the right time. The 9 different ways of activating the irrigation can nearly all be combined. Each irrigation group can be divided into 4 daily time periods. By adding or subtracting a percentage to each period it is possible to vary the irrigation time for each valve depending on the time of the day.

By employing the "By-pass" system the CDN equipment can control huge amount of irrigation water to perfection.

The Future is Part of the Product

Our product contains the best features for reuse of water in the market incl. pre-mixing of recirculated water /fresh water along with an easy and flexible set-up of water recirculation.

In the future the control of irrigation in greenhouses will demand that every drop is reused. For that reason we have added a very powerful and flexible control for recirculation of water.

Many growers prefer to make a blend of recirculated water and clear water to a pre-set conductivity before the water reaches the irrigation machine and then add the final touch in the mixing tank. This option is of course possible in the CDN. Also available is a very popular solution blending fresh water and recirculated directly in the mixing tank. This allows for a simple and economical installation.

Irrigation at the Touch of a Button

Manual activation of all connected valves in combination with automatic control.

Because no perfect system has been developed to automatically control the irrigation of ebb/flood benches and mobile tables many growers prefer to visually test the need for irrigation. The CDN has the built-in feature which allows manual activation of any single valve in the nursery by a touch of button.

Reduced Energy Consumption

The CDN provides the choice of activating three different pumps for each irrigation group, securing the minimum possible energy consumption.

Often it is worthwhile to build-in more pumps if the nursery has irrigation sections of different sizes. In this manner you can activate pumps depending on the need of the irrigation flow and pressure. Our CDN machine is standard equipped with control of three different pumps for each group. This allows for adjusting the energy consumption according to the need for irrigation.

The "By-pass" system has been built for control of large volumes; however it actually works very well with smaller water volumes as well. The energy savings are considerable, and there is no doubt that the "By­ pass" system will gain in popularity in the years to come.

Pre-start and pre-stop of the main pump secures that no excess pressure is built up in the pipes, whereas for hydraulic valves it is possible to build­ up pressure.

Safety First

Possibility of building in safety sensors. Three levels of priority secures sensitive crops are receiving the utmost attention.

The CDN machine makes it possible to add priority to each irrigation group ensuring that sensitive crops are watered immediately. The irrigation from other groups with lower priority is interrupted while serving more sensitive crops.

The CDN has the capacity of working with a set of safety sensors whose only job is to control the main control sensors.

Intelligent alarms are in place for activation depending on how severe an alarm is. The equipment can either stop the unit completely in the case of fatal errors or can continue the irrigation while canceling the dosing of fertilizer. An alarm list shows the last 15 alarms directly on the display of the CDN.

Consumption Under Control

Flow meters and fertilizer counters offer the perfect control of consumption.

The CDN fertilizer mixer has inputs for the registration of the irrigation flow in the main pipes for each group and for each of the connected fertilizer tanks.

Furthermore by installing flow meters it is possible to dose fertilizer in proportion to the main water flow.

Dosing in relation to raw water conductivity is also available.

The flow sensor is useful for the detection of broken water pipes via the flow alarm.

PC Connection for Data Logging and Remote Control of CDN

A PC-programme has been developed for the CDN machine for the surveillance of all functions. The actual activity of the machine is displayed, while you are able to programme directly from the PC. By connecting a modem it is possible to remote control the CDN.

New Development is Part of the Product

The CDN is updated each year with several new ideas and options.

The horticultural sector is dynamic and all the time new and better ways of controlling plant growth occur. Each year INTA releases a new and updated version of the CDN programme based on the daily dialogues we maintain with growers and technicians from all the markets that our product are sold in. The result is new and important ideas for the benefit of our customers.

The Brochure has to end but there are actually more possibilities in the rogramme of the INTA irrigation machine.

These just to mention a few: Complete control for automatic filter cleaning as well as agitation control for all fertilizer stock tanks ensuring that all nutrient salts are diluted at all times. Both automatic filter control and agitation control is part of the standard machine. Also available is multi-control by simultaneous activation of irrigation in the greenhouse, irrigation for outdoor crops and control of for example minimum humidity control or cooling sprinklers.
